Body of kidnapped FBR officer found

RAWALPINDI: According to authorities, an FBR assistant director who was taken hostage and killed when the family refused to give the kidnappers the money they demanded as ransom.

On April 12, Rehmatullah Khan was abducted from Kamalabad's Dhok Syedan Road. The victim never came back after his outing with pals, according to the police report filed by the RA Bazaar station in response to his brother-in-law Mohammad Shafique's complaint.
 
The captors called Shafique the following day from an unidentified number to let him know that Rehmatullah was with them and to demand 100 million rupees to ensure his safe release. The family filed a police report after failing to arrange the extortion money.


Despite starting an inquiry and making progress toward his captors, the police were unable to free him in time. Nonetheless, Wahid Gul, Sadiq Abdullah, and Muhammad Bahadur—the three abductors—were apprehended. They admitted to robbing Rehmatullah of his freedom. The deceased was buried close to Saray-e-Kharbooza after being killed. The body was found by the police, and the family subsequently identified it. One of the kidnappers, according to investigators, was a friend of the dead.
